Yesterday I went with a friend of mine to Davide LaChapelle’s “La Terra Ride nei Fiori” show.The aim of the exhibition is to make the spectator observe life’s vanity, beauty and frailty through flowers, fruit, candles and everyday life objects such as mobile phones, dolls, newspapers…The mood of the show was of anxiety and turmoil.The exhibition is inspired by XVII century still lives, revisited by LaChapelle creativity.The title was taken from the American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson’s work: Earth laughs with flowers.For this reason LaChapelle matches nature beauty and material objects futility.There are 10 works on display, at Robilant + Voena in Milan.Open until 24th March.
Ieri sono andata con un’amica alla mostra “La Terra Ride nei fiori” di David LaChapelle.
Lo scopo della mostra è di invitare lo spettatore a guardare la vanità, la bellezza e la fragilità della vita attraverso: fiori, frutti, candele tra cui spuntano oggetti della vita quotidiana come cellulari, bambole, giornali…
Lo stato d’animo che mi ha trasmesso è stato di ansia e turbamento.
La mostra è una rivisitazione delle nature morte seicentesche attraverso il genio creativo di LaChapelle.
Il titolo è stato ripreso dall’opera di Ralph Waldo Emerson filosofo statunitense il quale scrisse: “…la terra ride nei fiori, guardando i suoi figli vanagloriosi. La terra ride dell’arroganza degli uomini, che pensano di governare l’universo, mentre sono solo di passaggio”.
Per questo LaChapelle unisce la bellezza della natura alla futilità degli oggetti materiali che ci circondano.
Sono dieci opere esposte alla galleria Robilant + Voena a Milano.
La mostra si svolge a Milano fino al 24 marzo. Ho indossato il giacchino di Comme des Gargons anch’esso un vero artista.
